Liquid Pond

For schools, clinics and therapists

Calm games and learning for autistic students, on the devices you already have.

It runs in a web browser, with no student accounts. Each student plays in their own favorite things, at their own level. Start with a free 8-week pilot.

Email [email protected]. Or try the games now, with no login.

A session your students can predict

  1. You choose the length. 5 to 30 minutes on each device, behind a PIN. You also choose which activities show.
  2. Two warnings. "One more minute", then "Almost done" with ten seconds left.
  3. The same ending. A quiet "All done" screen, the same every time.

One minute before the end, every time.

Where teams use it

  • Transitions. A timed activity between two parts of the day, with a warning before it ends.
  • Breaks in the calm corner. Breathing, ripples, bubbles and a fish tank, with slow visuals and quiet sound.
  • First, then. If you choose, a book or five math problems comes before games. It is off until an adult turns it on.
  • Independent work. Pictures on every button and screens that read aloud, so a student can work alone at a station.
  • Mixed ability groups. Every game has 20 levels, so one room runs counting and times tables at the same time.
  • Each student's own interest. Trains for one student, flags for the next. Up to 3 favorite things for each profile.
  • Speech and language. Books read aloud, a letter board, and three talk buttons. The talk buttons are not an AAC system.
  • Sensory settings. Sound, motion, speed and color controls on each device.

For older students

Levels run to Expert, hard enough for teens and adults. The look is calm and dark. It is not a nursery look. A student with early skills works at Easy levels on the same screens as everyone else. You can pick favorite things that suit the student's age, such as flags, space or weather, and switch off any activity that feels too young.

Notes for IEP goals

We keep no student records. The grown-up area on each device shows, for each student profile, the minutes played and days played this week, favorite activities and best scores. You write your notes from that screen.

An example of a note a teacher might write

"Week of October 6. Used Liquid Pond on 4 days, 38 minutes in all. Chose Memory and Breathe most. Memory level 7. Stopped at All done without prompting on 3 of 4 days."

Every plan costs far less than the federal micro-purchase threshold of $15,000. Your district may set its own lower limit.

For therapists and clinics

Liquid Pond is a calm activity built around a child's own interests. It does not replace therapy, and the talk buttons do not replace an AAC system.

  • Free for families, with no sign-up. There is nothing for a family to buy.
  • No setup and no login in a session. The adult holds the settings.
  • Best played together. Sit with the child and talk about what you see.
  • Favorite things are the setting for the activity. They are never a prize to earn.
  • A child who uses an AAC device keeps it beside them while they play. Nothing here takes its place.
  • Calm activities are a quiet break. They sit beside movement and your own plan, not in place of them.
  • It has not been tested in a study of its own. Our two sources are linked, with their limits.

A therapist who works alone fits the Educator seat. A practice of up to 5 fits the Clinic plan.

A page to hand to a family

One sheet in plain words: what it is, how to start, how to play together, and what it is not. It has a code to scan and room for your own note.
